Reuben Brody LCSWA

About

Reuben Brody, LCSWA, is a behavioral mental health therapist at Matone Counseling and Testing. He helps folks struggling with sleep disorders, delayed transitions to adulthood, anxiety, depression, and life transitions like grief and loss.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Reuben was a professional writer. He cut his teeth in New Orleans, where he worked as a staff writer for the mayor until Hurricane Katrina. In 2012, he became the founding editor of the Los Angeles edition of InsideHook. His work has also appeared in the Los Angeles Times.

Around 2019, Reuben grew interested in the connections between mental health and the environment. Driven by the value of storytelling and our need to connect, he began to see that interviewing people for articles was akin to being a therapist, only that the latter was of better service. In 2020, he enrolled at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver (an online program, it was the pandemic), and in 2022, he graduated and moved to Asheville to start practicing. He continues to write for edification and fun.
