Maryam Kia-Keating Ph.D.

Maryam Kia-Keating, Ph.D., is an award-winning professor of clinical psychology at UC Santa Barbara, and a licensed clinical psychologist. She is also a Public Voices Fellow of the OpEd Project. After attending Dartmouth College, she completed her graduate work at Harvard University and Boston University, and her post-doctoral training at UC San Diego. She has received NIH funding for her research on child and family resilience. She founded Reach and Shine, and developed the HEROES Program, which teaches mindfulness, restorative communication, and connection. She has served on three American Psychological Association (APA) Presidential Task Forces. Dr. Kia-Keating serves as an Associate Editor for Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and as a Consulting Editor to Child Development. She is a children’s media consultant for DreamWorks Animation, Paramount, Disney+, YouTube Kids, and others. She has been featured on NPR, CNN, the Washington Post, ABC News, and Self Magazine, and is on Twitter @drkiakeating.
