John D. Mayer, Ph.D.

John D Mayer

Dr. Mayer is Professor of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire.

His PT blog, The Personality Analyst, now appears weekly on Monday mornings, with occasional extra posts.  His first PT blog was on August 24th, 2008.  

Dr. Mayer received his Ph.D. in psychology at Case Western Reserve University, and was a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University. He and his colleague Dr. Peter Salovey often are credited with initiating contemporary research in emotional intelligence

Dr. Mayer has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and the Review of General Psychology, among others. He has published more than 100 articles, books and tests in psychology, including Personality: A Systems Approach, a textbook published by Pearson/Allyn & Bacon.
